Hal Weidemeyer, Half Chester Chonowski, Half Hoy Stockton, Half Hal’s undying spirit was an inspiration to the whole team. Whether the Tigers were win¬ ning or losing, Hal was always fighting—and smiling. Chester’s all-around ability is hard to beat anywhere. A courageous, hard fighter, Ches¬ ter has been an invaluable as¬ set to the Tigers for two years. Roy’s kicking, passing and running ability is something to remember. This was his sec¬ ond year as a regular Tiger back. Billy Robb, Tackle When Rilly was in the game the opposing team was in for a rough time. Billy was a hard worker and gave everything he had to the game. Ted Wimberly, Center Ted’s untiring work at cen¬ ter was a feature that kept the Tigers in the thick of the race all of the time. S. C. Grizzle, Half S. C. was the smallest back- field man in the city and also one of the fastest. He returns to the Tigers next year.

Co-captain Giamalva earned his second letter this year at end for the Tigers. He was easily the class of the ends playing for the senior high schools as was demon¬ strated by the fact that he was named on the all-city team. He was a fearless tackier and blocker and was rarely taken out of plays that were directed around his end. This was Charlie’s last year on the Tiger team, and he will be sorely missed when the next football season rolls around. To Coach Duggan, the teachers and alumnae of Sam Houston owe their sincere thanks for guiding the destinies of fine football teams. Always a man who takes an ardent interest in the athlete he coaches, Mr. Duggan has made himself one who will be remembered by each of these young men, not only as their coach but also as their friend and advisor. While Coach Duggan is putting the Tiger team through their paces, Assistant Coach ’’Saco” Hudgings is usually devoting his time to teaching the fundamentals of football to the ”B” team—first year men and others who show T talent but are not quite able to make the first team. Through Hudgings’ guidance, many members of his ”B” teams have later developed into star athletes. Co-captain Johnny Helton proved that he was something of a football player during his two seasons as a regular on the Tiger team. As a junior, he was first- string guard and played a bang-up game of football. In his senior year, he exhibited his customary brand of fine playing, holding down the quarterback ' s position and calling signals most of the season. “ O

Edward Carnes, Center Although he was only a sophomore, Ed showed up well in the games he played in. Much is expected of him in the next two years. Rosy Vallone, Guard Rosy’s all-around play at guard won him his second let¬ ter. He could open those holes on offense and stop any play directed at him. Jimmie Teflos, Full Hitting the line for a needed yard or so was Jimmie’s spe¬ cialty, and he usually came through. His blocking was also excellent. W. D. Dunman, End W. D.’s pass snatching abil¬ ity and good end play earned him his second letter on the Tiger team. Fred Gilmore, End Even the fact that he was beset by injuries did not pre¬ vent Freddie from showing that he was an all-around end. Corwin Dodge, Guard Corwin earned his first letter by his steady, dependable playing this year. He is ex¬ pected to prove to be one of Coach Duggan’s best bets next year.
