The yell leaders were instructed to keep up a continual clamor of rah-rahsl' so that he would not doze during the game. l oots was usually the first one through the opponent's lineg not because of speed, but because nothing could stop him. S U 1. 1.1 VA N'-Ct'7lfl'7' For some unknown reason Clabber seemed to think he was good and always succeeded in making the stands agree. And when it comes to shooting the ball where you want it and getting your man, too, Sully is all right! Besides being center he holds the unoFl'icial injury champion- ship for high schools. He must play too hard! XX . HAI.L.AQ Dzflelz' and Guard Willie used all his mental as well as physical talents in the game. He would don his nose guard screw up his face tear holes in his socks and rush out on to the field like a charging rhinoceros. Those few opposing players who doubt- ed his viciousness soon found out that his bite was as bad as his bark. DE1.ERY-Bark Red has one striking advantage over the ordinary back besides the com- bination of weight speed and strength. His hair dazzles the other players and puts them off their guard. Perhaps this explains how he was able to get through a supposedly iron-clad line. He did it anyway! - f .1 f 1 fe- 1 X X I . L ' I . His specialty in football is to play three or four positions at once. Many of our own second team, as well as opponents, will remember him for his straight-arm as well as for his wonderful sportsman- ship. lf. HALLA-Tackle-Captain-cleft As it is impossible to say just what makes an all-around tackle, so it is im- possible to say just why Frankie is good at football. He tried at lirst to keep it a secret that he was in every play, but somehow the other side always managed to find it out before the game was very far along. Frankie hopes he will have better luck with health when he is cap- tain next year. CARX-Back Tuffy can t help being small and by nature he is tender-hearted. Some- times however he would forget himself and completely down an opposing end that tried to break through his territory. Tuffy not onlv helped the team by his ability and experience but also by his unlimited amount of pep and hope- fulness. Tic NEP.-End Sam gained his early football training at Allen Academy where he accidentally made a touchdown grew conceited as a consequence and decided to give Central the benefit of his prowess. Sam verv often went down but he generallv managed to carry two or three o a a ne ts with him. K l 'dr 'Y -fi . So sayeth not Skinner, He is one of the few mortals who serves successfully two masters. The First and best known is football. That he does this justice, no one questions. The second, and ifpossible greater, is his appetite. That he does this justice, no one who knows him can question. To LA NDQEHJ Toward the end of the season Toland became quite a familiar sight on the field, and his black cap, though hardly serviceable as a headgear, did very well to mark him from the other members of the team. All through the season Toland gave a good example of hard playing and good sportsmanship. GARRETT-f'uamf and fafklz' An injured hand kept Carrett out of several games that he would have other- wise been in. But when he was in there could be no doubt that he knew h's game. Plenty of experience made him 1 very valuable player. Garrett s favor- ite occupation between games was to Hy airplanes. Moom -Bark It is universally granted that if any other player had as big feet as Baxter he might have '1 chance of equalling him in kicking. But then players who wear a Number IO shoe are rare. This eel-hipped runner s specialty was not to be where the opposing tackle expected him to be. Baxter also made more non-scoring touch- downs than anw other man in this part of the state. 4,-gy i S 'S Q f E 5 1 as lllllllhu llhlllllllllllllllll llllllllllll Illl Illl Illlllllll lhl E if lilllllllllllllllllllllllllll Illl E 92 ... 5 llli Ulllllllllllll lllillllllllllllllllllllllll llllllllllll 'lllllllllll l llllllllll Lllllll llll llllllll lllll li I i . .
