Here lately the rather strange, ifnot startling discovery has been made that there is a Menagerie existing within these four walls. True somewhat sub-rosa, but nevertheless we receive a rather severe shock when we think of walking calmly through the corridors at the side of some ferocious beast of the great open spaces. VVell, heroes are born, not made as some one so quaintly put it. To conform with the rules of Zoo etiquette, it is proper to introduce the animal of highest social standing first. Of course we have a social status, hasnit every prominent organization. Only those who are able to pass an intelligence test are admitted within the walls of the Zoo. First comes our society leader, our Leo, alias Gabriel Johnson. Of course not that he tries to be lionized by the ladies, far be it from this timid creature+but simply' that he is a great talker and never in a happier frame ofmind than when roaring forth some oration. Next on the social list comes our Giraffes-Catherine WValker and Herman Lloyd- they come from a family of far reaching influence and have added much to the mena- gerie with their dignified, graceful manners. Our Loy e-birds Bill 'md Coo hold a high place in the hearts of all the animals and are constantly in demand. Even in our cultured Zoo Society when someone passes Phil and Homoiselle he can hardly refrain from saying O ain t love grand? Vie have a very distinguished Zebra Mitchell Darby near the head of our list. VVhether of Russian or Bolshevik descent is very hard to prove but that he is of noble lineage is unquestionable. He is artistically marked with stripes ofa brilliant Vermillion hue extending from slightly above his ankles to the tips of his toes. We consider this a positive proof of his mobility though some heartless wretches have stated that the socks came from Kressj. Since even in Zoo society sets beauty comes before age we next come to our Pea- cock lrwin Hill. He is one of the chief attractions and undoubtedly the most exhibited specimen in our memgerie. He is very fortunate in one respect being saved the horrible disillusionment of most peacocks-he wears Oxford Bags. Several families of Bears have been placed on the list of the mighty. The represen- tative of the Hugging Bear family is Miss Fanny Beth Hall. She has a very deep affec- tion for her books, and is 'ilway s hugging them. The Sheik of the Bears is Donald Poole the Dancing Bear. He is constantly in demand as a Charleston partner and has helped many a pretty maid dance out a pair of slippers. I.o the poor parents. Baxter Moody the Honey Bear is the proud possessor of a wonderful instinct as to where Sweets are to be found and running true to form verv seldom gets stung. The last repre- sentative of the Bear family is Aubrey Calvin the Growley Bear. He is an extremely' gruff and aggressive fellow very hfird to get along with easy to Hy off the handle but a wonderful leader. Since there is always one member to uphold the wisdom of the set our wise old Owl Branch Masterson is next in Zoo society. He s a very worldly wise old codger 5 E E E E E E E E ...
