Stage Band First Row: Richard Jones, Richard Mclntosh, Mike Russell, Paul McQuillen, Don Bickle, Billy Sparks, Charles Smith. Third Row: Greg Raw, Lynn Hoffman, Jim Clutter, Nathan Godley, Bob Bonnell, James Evans, Tom Hastings, Tommy Stout, Bruce Barger, Mr. Huffer. Selected group of band members performing at banquets and special events is the Stage Band. It consists of twenty talented members who play saxophones, trumpets, trombones, a bass, a guitar, and a trap set. Band's activities included performing for the Noon Optimists, playing music in the cafeteria at Christmas, presenting a Jazz Festival, and playing for the all-school play, Oklahoma Stage band helps one learn and play music better because of the current musical numbers they learn. Our orchestra provides an excellent way for musically inclined students to show their ability and to gain experience by per- forming before contest judges and audiences. Under the direction of Mr. Northington, the Central High School orchestra has a hard-working organization. Its first ap- pearance of the school year was in concert with the Mixed Chorus and Girls Chorus in an assembly at Thanksgiving. The group also accompanied singers in a Christmas presentation of Handel's The Messiahf' In March, the orchestra appeared at the Civic Center for the Northeastern District Teachers, Meeting. The orchestra competed in the district music contest held in Okmulgee. They closed the school year with a concert in the Fine Arts Auditorium.

Each senior is honored at the end of his senior year with a Central band jacket. Also each senior was honored at a banquet given by the band queen and her party. Three band boys were selected for the first time at Central as Drill Team Favorites. These particular boys were chosen on the merit of their school spirit and pride. Throughout the year they have given their time to promote school activities and sports. Many of their extra hours have been devoted to helping the Drill Team.
