The first moment is silence, then the drum major's whistle blows, the members snap to attention. The band performs with a new and show every week of the football season. They reported at 7:00 morning to smooth out formations for half-time performances. More- they worked every day for a whole month during the summer. Their are well-rewarded: their shows reflect a precision and harmony achieved through such practice. Though the football season is the most demanding, the band has other activities which keep them busy the year 'round The marching participated in three contests, Bartlesville, Tahlequah, and the state at Norman. They also perform at community events and maintain excellent concert band. Immediately after football season, the band began practicing for the tton Bowl parade on New Years in Dallas, Texas. The trip was spon- red by the band parent's club and aided by the budget committee. A year filled with this many activities clearly indicates that the band one of the busiest activities in the school! Each senior is honored at the end of his senior year with a Central band jacket. Also each senior was honored at a banquet given by the band queen and her party. Three band boys were selected for the first time at Central as Drill Team Favorites. These particular boys were chosen on the merit of their school spirit and pride. Throughout the year they have given their time to promote school activities and sports. Many of their extra hours have been devoted to helping the Drill Team.
