This is due to the el'l'orts and careful planning of the Board ol' liclucation. Four prominent business men compose this responsible group. Arthur Vatlett, manager and own- er ol' the Vonimercial Lumber Company, has served on the lloard since 1926. Mr. tlatlett is the president ol' the organization. A three year member is F. A. Ambriste1', prom- im-nt attorney-at-law in Muskogee. W. ll. Vunningham of the Victor Building and l.oan Vompany has completed his fifth year of ser- vice on the lloaril ol' Education. donation J. A. Lathim is serving his fourth year with this group. Ile is secretary of the Masonic Lodge of Muskogee. Clerk for the Board is E. D. Cave. who has rendered helpful services for fourteen years. These men give their time and interest to what- ever school problems confront them. When such an occasion arises, they give it careful consideration and decide on a proper solution. They give freely of their time and efforts for the benefit of public educa- tion in Muskogee. They are elected by the citizens of Muskogee, and they in turn delegate those who are to carry out the actual work of the schools. '-was Sk, N. 1. . W W i Qi af Wiki? Annu 4 ' if wytk X xx . 2 QQ? This grroup has been one of the most active of the past year by showing their superior efficiency. Their able president and the capable councilmen have certainly done their part in making the student government blend in perfect harmony. Growing: Pains, this year's annual class play, was n trem- endous sum cess and illustrates the superb talents of our Juniors. Two of their members represented Central in the district 01'- zitnrical meet. Probably one of the most effective contributions of Jimmy Junior is the Junior-Senior Banquet given by the Juniors for a farewell token to their predecessors in Central, the Senior class. Each spring, four boys and four girls are selected from the Junior Class by the House of Representatives as candidates for the presidency and vice-presedency of the student body. As in all the different phases of life, there are always those fitted with un- usual ability to lead others. If any class ever had members with this ability, the senior class ol' 15139 will have! Jack Jacobs, hail- ed by sportwriters, coaches, and players over the state as the greatest highschool player ever to come out of Soonerland, was the spearhead of a power- ful Rougher eleven which defeated nine strong ri- vals, including Tulsa. Only Capitol Hill of Okla- homa City and Little Rock, Ark., both of them state champions were able to stop the Roughers, and they did it with the narrowest of marfzinsg namely a point after touchdown. The Roughers opened their season at Mc'Alester where they defeated their old rival 19 to 0. The Q- .1 ,.e4reE'E'Ef1. Against Little lioek's big eleven the following week, the Roughers were stopped 7 to ti. Jacobs ret, urned a kiekoft' ot' 85 yards to give the erowd its biggest thrill. Wind and rain slowed down the offensive drive of both teams. The Roughers were deeidely oft'-form throughout the game at Sapulpa where the t'hiet't,ains gave the loeals a hard fight before bowing tl to 0. A long pass from Jaeohs to Rigney provided the touchdown. Clint Taylor, Rougher fullback, scored three times in the first quarter against Fayetteville overwhel- ming them by a defeat of 339 to 0. Class o '38 Mighty oaks from little aeorns growf' Perhaps Central will develop another Thomas Edison, Andrew Carnegie, or Franklin D. Roosevelt from this twenty-ninth graduation class. Four fields of training: and instruction are offered to the senior in his freshman year. Approximately 12 years of scholastic activities are required for graduation. Eagerly the senior awaits the small, white paper that signifies that he has reached the coveted goal he so earnestly sought. Later, his heart gives a faster rhythmic beat! Is it hiippiness or regret? To excell in the various buisiness and professional ventures is the hidden ambition of every graduate. To be better than the next person in line, to make life mere interesting and worth living which may be made so dull, to show others your own individual ability, there is hut one solution EDUCATION. Seniors of 1938, Central salutes you. May you bring fame and glory to your alma mater! Mr. George T. McKinney, Class Sponsor All lu iwufww- Y?
