Trials and Tribulations What rush. what hubub. what foresight, Was needed to edit this Centralite! For all the activities that Central offers. XVould give good argument' to potential scoffers. The events and memories here are of interest to all Be they of springtime or be they of fall. For the Centralite attempts to make us feel glad Upon recalling all the good' times we've had. Upon reading the Centralite. the student body purrs. Thanks to Editor-in-chief Judy Sanders. Judy was in a continual stew To get all of Central life recorded for you. There are activities here for every palate. For this you can't call me a liar. Thanks to the co-activities editors Natalie Rosengard and Friedelle Schreier. Three cheers for Elaine Zeidman From all of the mothers and dads. For she is the gal who edited Their dear children and our dear grads. XVe can all be happy and proud, As this is a school with fight. And the name of the girl who set it in print Is the sports editor. Nancy White. Circulation Manager of the 'Lite this year Handles the finances which are so dear. She goes by the name of Jack-ie Saltz And until the job is done. she never halts. We've photographed the Student Council XVhose government's no fool. This group has the purpose Of helping run the school. Represented here are the language clubs. Whose members are by no means dubs. For when all is said and done. They'll be world travelers, each and every one. Our Unity Forum stresses brotherhood. It does work which is both kind and good. lt's a huge club. how could it miss When it strives to wipe out prejudice? Want to be a teacher or nurse? At these activities do you wish to rehearse? YVell. read the Centralite, for two of its features Are clubs for future nurses and teachers. Central's sportsmen and sportswomen Are recorded here for posterity. These kids are full of vim and vigor And spirit that reeks with darity. Naturally. the grads are entitled to their spot. Their pictures in the yearbook. we haven't forgot. So we've pictured all the grads, and have had the nerve To give them the praise which they fully d'eserve. Many Central students have a busy day With associations such as A. Z. A. So the Centralite has pictured these organizations Though they've little to do with school time relations Yes. there's lot of info in this fine book. And loads of enjoyment wherever you look. It's a book you may want to thumb through some day When youth is gone and you're old and gray. This Centralite for '55 Was meant to be read and enjoyed By the entire Central Crew. That means you! The Unty Forum is one of the most important extra curricular activities carried on at Central High School. Its purpose is To promote co-operation and understand- ing between all racial and religious groupsf' During its meetings, which occur every other Tuesday in the library, discussions are held and future activities are planned. Some of the past activities have included outings, skits, movies, speakers, and, in honor of Brother- hood Week, a program to which all students were invited. All of the members are students who realize the ob- stacle of intolerance and are trying to overcome it and promote better feelings among all people. At the last election, Jim Lafferty was elected president, Jo Ann Ivory, vice-president, Mitzi Rachleff, secretary, and Phyllis Ivory, treasurer. The able sponsors of the Unity Forum are Mr. Charles Merryman and Miss Orah Hahn, who do a great deal of work in connection with religious tolerance.
