A French Dinner prepared by chefs of Chad- sey High School, joint meetings with the Span- ish and Latin Club are only a few of the events highlighting this year's agenda for the FRENCH CLUB. Musical and Drama programs put on by the club and a guest speaker from Wayne University added to the interest of the organ- ization. During the fall semester, Al Engleman was Presidentg Iane Rosenzweig was Vice-Presi- dent, Ioyce Brown was Secretary, and Sey- more Manello was Treasurer. This spring's of- ficers had Al Engleman, re-elected as Presi- dent, Edith Supac as Vice-President, lane Rosenzweig as Secretaryg and Winifred Led- ger as Treasurer. Because of the able sponsorship of Miss Phyliss Ward, the officers of the club, and the many enjoyable activities undertaken by its members, the French Club has marked up ano- ther successful year. The purpose of the SPANISH CLUB is to increase its members' appreciations and know- ledge of the language. lt provides an oppor- tunity for them to use the Spanish Language outside of the classroom. The meetings are varied and include musi- cal programs and games. This year the mem- bers of the Club were fortunate in having a native of a South American Country speak to them at one of their meetings. Highlighting twenty sm: Row 4 - H. Fruchter. E. Kingstqn, I. Sachs. the l953-4 semester was a joint meeting with the Redford Language Clubs. At the end of the spring semester, the Spanish Club held a pic- nic to climax the school year. The officers for the past year have been: President, Barbara Bandler, Vice-President, Artree Gray, Secretary, Eileen Kayne, Trea- surer, Iere Wendell. The sponsor of the Spanish Club is Miss Eleanor Brakeman. After completing another successful year, the LATIN CLUB, under the sponsorship of Mrs. Ethel Bush, holds the title of being one of Cen- tral's most active clubs. This year's activities took the students to Ann Arbor where, combined with a picnic, they visited the Classical Museum. They also visited Mumford High School, where they participated in a Latin, Whats My Line, panel. Other events were a Christ- mas Party, entertaining Mumforcl's Latin Club at an informal gathering here, consisting of a program, refrshments, and a tour of the school. At the end of the term students completing eight semesters of Latin and had mantained an A Average were presented with a metal as a symbol of high Accomplishment. Heading the Latin Club this year were the Co-Consuls: Iudy Alzofon, and Ierry Chapnick, Quaestor: Ellen Averbuckg Scribo: Phillip Berns, Histor: Beverly Simon.
