GAA Acclaimed as Good Sports G.A.A.--Row l: I. Bonner. Row 2: S. Weinstein: I. Fox: B. Berry. Row 3: T. Yucht: I Goldberg: B Rosenberg: M. Himeloch. The Sportsmanship Council celebrated its third birthday this term. For three years this club, under the sponsorship of Mr. Homer Martin, has promoted their code, which is: We consider all athletes as our guests. We will accept all decisions of the officials. We do not utter abusive or irritating remarks or attempt to rattle an opposing player. We ap- plaud opponents who make good plays or show good sportsmanship. We strive to win fairly without boasting and lose without ex- cuses. We ask that all players and fans help us live up to this code . . . and MAY THE BEST MAN This year the council handed out programs at football and basketball games, publicized school affairs. and held student exchanges with other schools to find out about their activities. For all of these reasons, this is one of Central's fastest growing clubs. Promoting good sportsmanship, providing social opportunities for girl athletes. being a useful service organization of the school, and encouraging girl's athletics in Central are a few of the purposes behind the G. A. A. The functions of the G. A. A. are numerous -selling tickets at school activities: ushering at commencement, sponsoring pep rallys. and conducting the sale of C pins and senior pins. The G. A. A. had an active season this year. Among their many activities was the holding of a Valentine's Day party for the members of the Central and Northwestern girls' basketball teams and sponsoring a banquet for the girl athletes. The officers who ably led the group are:: President, Iean Fox: Vice-President, Ioy Carl- son: Secretary, Sybil Weinstein: Treasurer, Beverly Berry. Twenty-three
