to Better School The council participated in two student exchanges with other schools and also sponsored a cultural evening. The council arranged car pools to football and basket ball games. These activities and a series of Blue-and-White Fridays brought a new burst of spirit from the entire student body. Yes, we were having a successful term. The council continued its good work in the spring term with President Roger Pernick in the drivers seat assisted by veep Beverly Ribiat. Once again ably holding the pen and the purse strings were Tobye Davidson and Gere Primack. respectively. During the spring term the council sponsored a very successful pep rally and helped put on an alumni variety show and dance. They participated in a clothing drive and sold bookcovers and school phamplets to students. The council of next term will certainly have to try hard to live up to or to surpass this year's accomplishments. STUDENT COUNCIL-Row l: S. Superstien: M. Gerber: R. Weingarten: B. Lehrman: L. Student Council Strives Everyone was back from summer vacation and ready for work. The council started off by unanirn- ously electing Sally Kornwise the first girl president of the council. Under her leadership and assisted by vice-president Roger Pemick: secretary, Tobye Davidson: and treasurer, Gere Primack, the council carried out a very successful semester. Besides having social aiiairs such as the Dogpatch Dance , which was a stag blue-jean affair in honor of Sadie Hawkins Day, and Showtime , a gala variety show and dance from which all pro- ceeds went to a memorial lund for the late Mr. Silverstein, lorrner music instructor here at Central, the council sent over thirty large baskets of giits worth over five hundred dollars to the Dearbom Vet- erans Hospital during Christmas vacation.
