Twenty-two years ago this club tirst opened its roll to students of Central High interested in writing. It' a person were to drop in on one ot' the bi-monthly meetings. he would be sure to find a bee-hive of activity. The programs feature prominent guest speakers. sound movies, records. literary readings. and lively discussions on innumer- able topics. However, the Walt XXfhitman Society is far from being just a loc ll affair lt is chartered as a member ot the International uill and Scroll Society whose heldquarters is If Northwestern University This international organization consists of a membership ot eighty thousand high school journalists scattered all over the world.
