In the fall term, the C.ivic Club had a social worker speak at one ot' the meetings on the desperate situaf tion of manv of the Mexican tiamilies in Detroit. Soon aftervvards. as .1 result of this talk. the members ot' the C.ivic C,lub made up .1 Christmas basket C011- taining canned foods vvhich they themselves cols lected through .1 contest. and donated it to a destitute Mexican familv. A movie program. vvhich vvas produced jointlv through the etforts of the CQivic Club and the Linitv Forum, vvas put under the direction of President Hanna Eisler who did it very capable job of handling all the activities ofthe fall term. In the spring term. the first activity of the C.ivic Cllub was that of having Z1 speaker from the 'luvenile Court of the Police Depirtment to speak on the sub- ject ot juvenile problems 1I1Ll their solutions In co OPCFIIIOII vvith the Contemporuv Arfurs CM Club. .1 visit to the Pontiac Mental Hospital. Izloise. in May. constituted the semi-annual trip to .1 cnv institution that the C ivic' C.lub takes each term. Another trip. this time to one ot' the C.ircuit C ourts ot' Detroit, vvill be one of the manv activities vvluch are on the agenda tor next term. As its spring president. 'loyce Wolf' carried the Civic Cllub through all its activities under excellent sponsorship of Mr. Pettis. A set of plans qvvhich vvill consist ot' programs. pamphlets. .1ncl visiting speakers from trartic court. etc.i for .1 safe driving campaign. are being worked on with the hopes ol' having them completed bv next term. affecting each and every member of the school.
