Y Y LIBRARY STAFF Rau' 1: M. Seigal, Miss Hahn, S. Kallman, R, Shaer, H. Levin. Rau' 2: Nannette Powell, H. Rachrach, M. Himen, S, H. Shulman, S. Dobinson. obgrary Away from the characteristic turmoil and confusion of Central's corridors, one may escape to our school library, where peace and quiet reign supreme. It is a beautiful, majestic room with large casement windows. allowing for the free entrance of precious sunlight. Great care is taken to keep our library in good con- dition and the book shelves and magazine racks are stacked with material to quench the thirst for knowl- edge and adventure of Central's students. The busy custodian responsible for the proper func- tion of our school library is Central's librarian, Miss Ora Hahn. Assisting Miss Hahn at different hours are her staff of thirteen junior librarians, all anxious to serve their public, the Central faculty, and students. All of these bright youngsters must maintain a BU average to become members of the library Staff. As a reward for their services each receives two and one-half hours of credit. Work on the library staff is considered a course and much has to be mastered to qualify for the position of a good librarian. The librarian has to acquaint herself with the various reference books. the system of filing books, and where information pertaining to a specialized subject is to be found. In addition it is her duty and desire to see that her books are in constant circulation, therefore she must know her books in order to acquaint others with them. ,R 9 LATIN CLUB Ron' I: A. Zyznitch, G. Wfereforcl, B. Berry, I.. jackson, R, Gerber. Rau' 2: If. Hnughtley, E, Salsberg, H. Vlfeitzman, I.. Rosen, Miss Flynn, I. Cain, B. Hourler. VI. Wfilhelm, Jafin Among the classic languages of the world, Latin is undoubtedly the most universally taught and studied. To further the students' enjoyment of the classics of Lingua Latina is the purpose of the Latin Club. They strive to prove that Latin is far from a dead language. To this end they transpose familiar popular songs into Latin. Always modernizing, always getting ahead, the Latin Club has a new name. They are now called Confeder- atio Romanorumu and their new motto is Scientia Veritarquef' The members find hours of pleasure in exploring the culture and government of the people who have had so profound an effect on the customs and language of our country. In the spring term Roy Gealer and Joyce Wilhelm were succeeded as consuls by Edward Houghtby and Sidney Kleinman. Howard Rice took over Barbara Howards job as Practor and Marion Xwerdehoff was replaced by Morey Ring. The ideas of their officers coupled with the aid of their sponsor, Miss Margaret Iilynn, do much to bring interest to the meetings of the organization. From the little settlement on a hill on the Tiber, founded 753 years before the birth of Christ, through Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Roumania and now here to us to enhance our learning and make up half the words in our language, came Latin.
