1984 YEARBOOK DEDICATION MR. OGDEN HOLLARS Central has lost many things in the past, one in particular, and that is Mr. Hollars. Often known as coach Hollars, he was one of our wonderful teachers that retired last year after 25 years of his service. Mr. Hollars is gone but, still remembered for his many contributions to us. Born in Stop, Kentucky February 21,1920, in a two room log cabin, his father was a teacher, and a minister. They have lived in various places such as: Louiseville, Kentucky, Indiana, Colorado and Montana. Mr. Hollars attended high school in Denver and later attended college in Warrensburg, where he received his masters, from CMS. He also attended Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska, where he received his undergraduate degree. Last but not least, he attended UMKC. His family consists of three daughters, two are married and one is attending C.M.S. Coach Hollars is still umpiring in his spare time. He coached Girls Volleyball-lst city Championship (4 yrs.) Baseball (3 yrs.) Football-Freshman Jr. Ass.-Var.-AII C.H.S. We all taking this time out to honor a great man and a wonderful human being. Coach we love you !!!!!!!! 6 1. Footloose”! 2. Very romantic! 3. Plant Life. 4. Sudden impact! 9 10 1. Too hard to stop! 2. Beat it!! 3. The sixteen candles. 4. Love on a two-way street!! 1. ABC! 123! ABC! Baby you and me! 2. Hold it tight! 3. Galaxy of terror. 4. Night life. 5. Bad Boys!!!! 12 AGAINST ALL ODDS How could I just let you walk away, Just let you leave without a trace. When I stand here taking every breath with you, You're only one that really knew me at all. How can you just walk away from me When all I can do is, just watch you leave Cause we shared the laughter and the pain And even shared the tears Your the only one who really knew me at all So take a look at me now There’s just an empty space And there’s nothing left here, to remind me Just the memory of your face So take a look at me now. There’s just an empty space And you coming back to me is against the odds, And that’s what I’ve gotta face. I wish that I could make you turn around Turn around and see me cry There’s so much I need to say to you So many reasons why. You’re the only one who really knew me at all So take a look at me now There’s just an empty space And there’s nothing left here to remind me. Just a memory of your face So take a look at me now, Cause there’s just an empty space But to wait for you is all I can do And thats what I gotta face. Take a good look at me now Cause I’ll still be standing here And you coming back to me, is against all odds. This is a chance I gotta take SENIOR CABINET First Row: (left to right) Karen Hopkins, Ronzell Shepard, Stacy Starnes, Maurice Tanner, Jocelyn Burgette, Latonya Hamilton. As we danced to the melody, we had so much to share. In a flash I was all alone, Haunting me once again. A dream a simple fantasy, that I wished was reality that you come knocking at my door and we relived this dream once more. The day you left you said you would return, just when you wouldn’t promise you said you needed time alone. You said you loved me and someday our love could be, I couldn’t understand it I thought we were both happy. Oh-Oh come back, please make my dreams come true for me. This organization has been active the entire 1983-84 school year, Sponsored by Mrs. Walker former Cheerleader sponsor. The Energizer’s name was suggested by Bobbie Levingston, a Freshman. The Energizers sponsored busses to the I.L. Fieldhouse during state play. To raise money for its projects, the Energizers sold candy during football season, sponsored a breakfast program during Basketball season- selling fresh donuts and orange juice, and held a District tournament dance on March 2. The activities benefited by the Energizers efforts were the Fall Awards assembly where the Honories were given flowers donated by the Energizers. A good luck Continental breakfast for the girls and boys basketball teams along with the cheerleaders was held prior to the Van Horn game and for the boys before the Warrensburg game. The Energizers also purchased the trophies for Volleyball which were presented at the athletics Awards Banquet. The school coordinator attempts to find an employer who can provide a beginning job which offers real learning opportunities for the student. The student devotes a minimum of fifteen hours per week, generally in the afternoon, on the job as a trainee worker. Additional hours may be arranged by the employer and coordinator. The student-learner is rated by the employer and the school as to his progress on the job. Attendance, quality and quantity of work, attitude, interest in work, and ability to get along with others are factors in rating or grading. High school credit is granted on the basis of satisfactory progress by the student. The student-learner is under the joint supervision of the employer and the school. In this arrangement the coordinator confers periodically with student's immediate supervisor concerning the student’s progress on the job.
