The receiving of your diploma indicates you have completed twelve years of successful education. Do not consider this as an ending, but a beginning of a new life, a life in which you will continue to develop yourself to your fullest potential. Whatever avenue of life you have chosen to pursue put all of your physical, intellectual, and emotional effort into everything you attempt. Remember, in order to succeed you must first try, if you don’t try you cannot succeed. In our present society, the stress seems to be on all phases of human development. This includes social, educational and financial development. Thus, after overcoming one big hurdle, each of you must continue striving to make the most of future educational opportunities so that you can be self-sustaining, self-sufficient, and valuable to your community. I hope that your education at Central Senior High School has provided you with special skills and talents for living a successful and creative life. We will always appreciate your involvement in any school activity that will help make Central Senior High School the best school in the city of Kansas City. Jack P. Cummins Assistant Principal It is delightful and rare that so much ability and talent is concentrated in such few youth. I challenge each and every Centralite to continue to grow and develop your lines and attributes, to be educated, to become positively involved and to continue the Central Tradition. Mrs. Swift Mrs. Swift Centralites, this is the year of decision changes for our country. Everyone is aware of the result of the recent election in which the conservative mood of the American people influenced our choice of public office Nationally and locally. Changes which will affect every avenue of our society are expected as the pendulum serving from permissiveness to more restrictive less extravagant measures. Youthful though you may be, it is time to reflect on your future. Show vital concern for social welfare and academic excellence. It's time de-emphasize fun-endgames as usual. The ideas of scholarship and service have waterlood the test of all times. Today is no different. So dedicate yourself to the optimistic goods of self-important hard work and determination to be prepared to be your rightful place as a production member of the American society. Think about it and Act! Franklin, M. 5 Mrs. Perry Mensch, Harold THE COUNSELING PHILOSOPHY OF ANY SCHOOL IS THE END RESULT OF THE BLENDING OF THE INDIVIDUAL PERSONALITIES OF THE STUDENTS AND THE FACULTY. THE COUNSELORS AT CENTRAL HAVE ENJOYED AN UNUSUALLY COMPATIBLE RELATIONSHIP WITH THEIR STUDENTS AND COLLEAGUES, LARGELY, WE BELIEVE, BECAUSE WE CHOSE TO BE HERE. THIS OPTION HAS CHANGED IN SOME RESPECTS DUE TO ADMINISTRATIVE NECESSITY. WE HOPE THAT THE MAIN CONCERN WILL REMAIN, THE INTERESTS AND WELFARE OF THE STUDENTS ABOVE ALL . . . “GOODBYE MRS. Gospel Choir Ns 92 Centapoems At the Beginning At the beginning, Our goals were yet unconceived And though we were underclassmen The web of knowledge our minds would weave; Three years were set before us; Together as one we would be victorious The eleventh grade is a big step toward realizing our dreams of high school and the ambitions we hold for the future. Central should be considered the place to begin achieving our goals, for the work is challenging. The Central class of “82” are going to make it in the outside world. We have become accustomed to hard work and realize that it will be a necessity in the daily battle of survival. I want it known that we aren’t going to be a part of the common crowd we will stand up and make out-selves noticed by society. We all strive for one thing: Perfection. And with that idea in mind, tomorrow’s world is a guaranteed success! Lesa Ballard But if obstacles of life should push us out of place, We would stand together to keep our black faith We saw in the future toil and frustration; Together we would meet them without hesitation Our minds were well aware that we were and we are black Nothing but nothing can hold us back We are vigorous We are alive Let it be known We are Cool We represent the great Central Sr. High School The battle we have won This is the class of “81” By Gwenette E.
