In Roman times, the aquiliferi were standard bearers who led the Roman army into battle. Instead of a flag, they each carried a pole with a golden eagle on the top As they upheld Rome's eagle, or standard, Central's Aquiliferi aim to uphold the standards of Central. This club is a chapter of the Junior Classical League, a national organization of over 63,000 members interested in the language, literature, and arts of Greece and Rome Attendance at J.C.L. conventions provides the climax in the year's activities. The regular club programs offer an opportunity for more Latin plays, games, songs, mythology, and historical background than class time will permit. TOP ROW: T. Howkins, T. Corver, R. Barger, P. The Central C Club is composed of boys who have earned and been awarded letters in varsity sports and hove maintained certain standards in scholarship, citizenship, and sportmanship. The boys in the C Club learn to put the honor of their school and team ahead of personal honor. They learn the true meaning of real sportsmanship. People look up to C Club boys because they represent the true Central spirit, and are an important part in the promotion of brotherhood among Centralites Under the sponsorship of Mr Harry Slaymaker and President Eldon Hedges, the C Club carried out its main task of supplementing the athletic fund so as to insure future Central athletes the privilege of participating in Interscholastic athletics. This is an important part of every boy's ambition. Upon entering the club, boys must take an oath and swear to uphold the name of Central no matter what the cost. BOTTOM ROW. D. Wiliioms, E.
