Ten girls are chosen each year by the counselors for membership in Central's chapter of the Hundred Girls Club. Like groups from the Kansas City high schools are spon sored by the American Association of University Women The purpose of the club is to encourage girls to continue their education in college At the Sophian Plaza the A A U.W entertained the girls at a Christmas brunch, at which former members who are now in college shared their experiences, and at a spring tea, which featured a noted educator This year a new plan of visiting college campuses was started These contacts with members of the A.A.U.W. have been beneficial to the girls, enabling them to make wise college choices and helping them for college entrances. Future Teachers Under the direction of first semester president, Joyce Hukill, and second semester president, Betty Jo Caruthers, the Future Teachers took part in the Missouri State Teachers Convention which was held in Kansas City in November At the bimonthly meetings, films, discussions and speakers were enjoyed by everyone. The purpose of the Engineers Club is to give practice in reports and experimentation in Engineering projects Any student in the higher classes of science or mathematics is eligible for membership The club meets every two weeks in Room 21 1 and has a membership of thirty-one.
