The Central girls were the first to organize in Kansas City, in l95l. 'lihis year they adopted an exchange student, Maxine Tilhy, from New Zealand, who will come here and attend Kansas City University where she will serve as eounselor to Camp I7ire Cirls. The Central girls have participated in the Regional Conference in Kansas and they were host to an all-city United Nations dinner. Christ- mas they delivered toys to the City Union Mission and en- joyed a holiday breakfast at lloxvard 'Iohns0n's restaurant. The Club plans to tour Chicago this year. The offieers are: Presi- dent, Pat llaysg Vice-President. liarhara Barnesg Secretary, Linda Francis, Treasurer, Pat lleekerg Advisers, Airs. li. XV, Zenor, Mrs. Carlson and Miss Leihengood. The Central Hi-Y Cluh is eomposed of upperelass hoys who have aeeepted the purpose: mlio ereate, maintain, and extend throughout the home, selwol, and community, high standards ol' Christian character. The group meets weekly on Tuesday evenings. An integral part of each meeting is the devotional period. The eluh sponsored several soeial and service projects. The Ili-Y Cluh again this year eondueted Pre-Thanksgiving and Pre-liaster Services in assemhlies at the sehool. Y-T Y-Teens is thehigh school braneh ol' the Young kVUlTlCl'liS Christian Association. Y-Teens join other members of the YVVCA in this purpose: To build a fellowship of women and girls devoted to the task of realizing in our common lives those ideals of personal and soeial living to whieh we are committed by our faith as Christians. This purpose sets three goals for Y-Teen members. They are: CID to grow as a person, C22 To grow in friendship- with people of all races, religions, and nationalities, C31 To grow in thc knowledge and love of Cod. The Y-Teen program ineludes social, devotional, and service activities that Carry out our purpose. A membership partv was held for thc first meeting in the fall. A Halloween costume party was held at the Hi-Y, with one of the city's disc jockeys judging the best Costume. Caroling was eonduetecl in the neighborhood at Christmastime. During the summer the girls volunteered for work at Camp CACY in Swope Park, con- 66118 dueted jointly bv the Campfire Girls and the YXVCA for un- derprivileged ehildren. A eontribution of fiftv dollars was made to the VVorld Fellowship Fund of the YVVCA. To raise this money, eandv was sold. Another project was the selling of tiekets to a benefit bridge partv, the proceeds ol' which were used to send representatives to the annual eonvention of Y- Teens. Inter-Club Council representatives meet with representa- tives ol' the other high schools in Greater Kansas Citv to clis- cuss common problems. and an annual tri-eitv conference was held. S35 ,J'?. ngineers Club The Central Engineers Club is composed of junior and senior students taking chemistry, physics, or advanced mathe- matics. It is intended to provide extracurricular activities for those planning to go into a field of engineering. Programs are planned so that a different field of engineering will be covered each meeting. The greatest attraction this year was a lecture on radiation by Mr. Leon Molotslcy, a teacher at Shawnee Mission High School. .
