This has been a year of headlines-Vsome of somber cast, others of a lighter nature. In this, the 1944 Centralian, we have attempted to por- tray your school as it is reflected in the headlines — as each day sees another link forged in the chain of events that makes a high school in a world at war. In a nation armed and fighting for her creeds, her way of life, school assumes a new and en- tirely different significance. Here among us are born the hopes, the inspirations of tomorrow, and from her oftentimes go the soldiers of today. To the values that call for courage and sacrifice, to the American spirit as represented in and around Central, this book is dedicated. j [4
