Weyve had a lot of fun this year, haven't we? Remember how hard we cheered for the Eagles and how hard they fought for Central? Hard enough that they won the footloall pennant. Rememher how proud we were to see it on our flag pole the day we had our outdoor assembly? And how we argued about the presidential election, when Mr. Roosevelt ran for a third term with Mr. Willkie opposing him? We all wore campaign lauttons. Some of them said things like uVVe don't want Eleanor either and, ul want to he a captain, too. while others said Hcarry on with Rooseveltn and Youth for Rooseveltf' And then the day after election, when Mr. Roosevelt was re- eipctecl, some of us were glad and some of us had loets to pay o . We had our first douhle mixers, using hoth gyms. We danced to Chuck Nelson's hand and to recordings of tunes like: Only Forever, Five O'Clock Whistle, Beat Me Daddy Eight to the Bar, Frenesi, You've Got Me This Way, Ferry- hoat Serenade, and all the others we liked so well. The girls were all trying out the new pompadour hair style and some of them looked very nice. Every Friday in Home Room we got our Luminaries, and teachers kept telling us all the rest of the day to put them away and read them later. Page I4
