They had heard it said that the stars represent the highest reach of earthly ambition and that they symbolize our faith in lifeg and their hearts were saddened that our dull ears are not tuned to hear the music of the stars and that our eyes are not given the power to see the beautiful strands by their rivers and lakes. After much patience they discov- ered that it is on the wings of faith that we rise to catch the beauty and thc fragrance of the forget- me-n0fS of the angelsg that it is by faith that we reach the carpeted meadows of heaven where dwell the spirits of harmony, cooperation, and good will. They learned that life grows like that it feeds upong therefore they visited the star land and sought an interview with the ruling spirit. They were gra- ciously received by the Great Spirit of Good Will. Upon being asked what they wished they trembled with the fear that they were asking too much. They wanted the Great Spirit to return with them to dwell at Central. The Spirit said that was not necessary since he had a better plan. He would appoint them to be his ambassadors to carry back to Central the spirit of harmony, cooperation, and good will to be duly installed by them through their daily behavior, as the spirit of Centralg on this condition: that from year to year there should come to the Great Spirit an assurance that harmony and good will continue to be the leading spirit of the school. It is the good fortune of the class of 1940 to be the ambassadors to relay the message of good will to the Great Spirit. And so with becoming modesty and truth the class submits its record. This record is gathered from various organizations, including classrooms, societies, councils, and the student body. It is a record of willing obedience, cooperation, and good will left with the school it loves.
