Math Proves Important in Everyday Living Most worthwhile jobs require math- matics. That was why it was important to have a solid background in math and although it may have seemed like it was only used in the classroom, math did train students to think through prob- lems that might arise in everyday living. This year the department received new books for Plain Geometry, Plain and Solid Geometry and General math classes. Along with receiving new books, a new teacher, Mrs. Cynthia Fox, taught Trigonometry, Algebra 1 and General Math. Mr. Al Weir, coun- selor at Bay City Central, taught one math class and Mr. Tom Dobbick, who taught business in previous years in- structed three math classes. During the year, a Michigan Math- matics Competitive test was given to students trying for a scholarship to the college of their choice. The test, which came in two parts, was extremely diffi- cult. Central had two students, senior Tom Dominowski and senior Paul Sig- elko, who qualified to take the second half of the test. No one has qualified within the past two years. 12facademics Stressing the importance of math to his Adv.
