Science Gpens the Door to a New World Percision is what counts in a biology experiment and there preparing the mixtures are sophomores Vic- toria Burke and Susan Nuenke. Meanwhile, Mr. james Reed, supervisor is making sure everything in the procedure goes smoothly and efficiently. Accidents sometimes occur and helping student Ken l-lolka untangle his equipment for an experi- ment in earth science is Mr. Gerald Hovis. ltlfacademics Science is constantly changing, and so is Bay City Central's Science Depart- ment. This department is kept up to date by many interested and con- cerned Science teachers. This past year, new teachers have taken over the Har- vard Project Physics and Advance Biol- ogy courses and have brought in new ideas. Science offers an understanding of the World around us. It enables stu- dents of science to become aware of the many unanswered questions of today's scientific world. The lab peri- ods also help to teach students how to work together. This last year, however, the students have been deprived of many of these assets. Since the austerity program has been in effect, the laboratory sessions have been almost completely eliminated. Despite some of the set backs the millage has caused, the teachers have done their best to keep the students interested in science. A dark room for the purpose of developing photo- graphs in the physical science classes is one of the new facilities they've done. Carefully pipetting his compound for accurate data on his experiment in Advanced Biology is sophomore Tim McTaggart.
