But today, because of the changing times, a girl can study interior decoration, child care, consumer buying, grooming and personality, figure control, handi-crafts, dietetics, home and family living-and cover cooking and sewing thoroughly, too. The Industrial Arts classes are open to both boys and girls and are devoted more to exploration and general knowledge than to skills of trade. Under the Day Trade plan, boys only are offered more specialized curriculum with the emphasis placed upon development of skill. These skills prepare a boy for his future oc- cupation. He learns to make sound decisions, and to perform many necessary functions correctly. Some of these are borrowing money, giving credit, buying insurance, and paying taxes. In short, the student is given a chance to become successful in business, and as a citizen. Special skills are offered to further this end. They are typing, shorthand, and general oH'ice work.
