Dwight Olsen Bernard Baranek Clayton Campbell Raymond Halub Jack Huebner Herbert Patterson Edward Rybak Robert Schroeder Dean Willoughby Coach Walter Olsen Coach Lester Sherbeck Central's basketball team finished in a four-way tie for second place in the 1941 Valley standings. Two team mem- bers, Ed Rybak and Dwight Olsen, were awarded a place on the All-Valley team. Ed Rybak also was placed on the Detroit Free Press second All-State team. Bay City won the 1941 state regional tournament held in the local gym- nasium March 12, 14, and 15, but was defeated by Pontiac in the quarterfinals at Saginaw.

An example of the interest in good sportsmanship encour- aged at Central is the boys' and girls' intramural basketball games organized each year through the advisory groups. Groups choose teams which compete with one another for the title of school champions. This year the girls' cham- pionship game was played before the parents on Back to School night.
