Junior- enior Banquet f'Welcome to Tijuana, the land of the contented mari- Senior Banquet. A few minutes later it looked as though it was going to bomb-fortunately, the Seniors started laugh- ing at thejokes after the meal was served. Several 'different acts were provided for entertainment, but by far the piece de resistance was the bullfight, which was beautifully exe- cuted by Gary Worley, with Gordon Newsome and Carey Young as the bull. As an added attraction, several awards were presented to members of the faculty. Almost every- body agreed that the resulting expressions on the teachers' W iq QW? f' ff faces were well worth the effort of the entire ban uet. gt --ii i ti y- q 2 ii ff ii f Among the awards resented to the teachers were: Mr. Haralson, for being the best la boyg Mrs. Bowen, for bein ,im A P Y 3 rl the most sociable teacherg and Mr. Basden, for being the I hairiest teacher . High Band Finest ear Yes, you are the outstanding bandsmen of 1968-69. Honors received by the Bolivar Band this year were: lst place and superior rating awards MSU Marching Contest, Highland Hundred, Outstanding Band award, superior rating and 4th overall at MTSU Contest of Championsf' superior rating band and field commanders at W.T. Marching Band Festival, lst place Somerville and Selmer Christmas Parades, 62 superiors and 95 excellent ratings at W.T. Solo and Ensemble Festival, superior ratings at W.T. Concert Band Festival, lst place at Paris Fish Fry, lst place in the West Tennessee Strawberry Festival at Hum- boldt, and superior rating CHS Stage Band in W.T. Stage Band Festival. In all the Bolivar bands finished the 1968-69 year with a record of 15 trophies and plaques, over 450 medals, and approximately S275 in prize money. For the second year in a row the Central High Band was the only band in West Tennessee to be rated as superior in all three areas of endeavor in marching, concert, and stage band.
