The '67 541 Centraleer OFFICIAL PUBLICATION OF CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL BOLIVAR, TENNESSEE L- Sf -W, N I Fu ru' ...A Foreword The joys, the struggles, and the challenges of high school are shared by each of us 3 but through these experiences we realize that high school is but a step toward the future. After we go our separate ways, we each must find our individual place. We are warmed by the assurance that there is a time and place for each of us. Finding that time and that place will be our own personal challenge. Through this yearbook for 1967, it is hoped that the spirit and life of Central are captured as witnessed by you, the student body. It is hoped that each of you will find your place in this the 1967 Centraleer. Ep ,-f I . . Wai f V we -me awfe11q,,,.f, Dedication We the annual staff wish to present a tribute to a teacher whom we have come to know and admire. She has been an outstanding personality in this school. We feel that she should be recognizedlnot only for her distinguished contributions as a teacher, but also for her role as sponsor of the Beta Club. We wish to express our appreciation to her for her friendliness, understanding, and patience. In endeavoring to give her a part of the tribute which she so richly de- serves, this 1966-67 Centraleer is respectfully dedicated to Mrs, Rebecca Vaughan There's a Place for Us l a I A place to learn - And time to care Somewhere a Place for Us A place together - With time to spare. , ..A -AHA . - -.. . f' xh,N,x , 5 C , X n' wi .V ,V ilbf '- X , C D cb c:- oo OO I I 8 Ima ater We owe to you Alma Mater We owe to you our memorres true For rn these halls Dear Alma Mater We learn of books and 11v1ng too E 2 rv cn I-J'-'Oo o 's:2j fsf5'H ' ,..a-og-In-0 m,..h,UO ggu-4 s-00x42 offgn. 2. .Zo 2222 m5DS' ef-20-g ' 3 cuz'-'E 492865 -9l,9Q::.:r fl! 5 EZ' 'UD' E318 cn 8'-' N X XX XX 'sxxwxx X,HlGly X f P T599 , I - D I 1 ' S ' . : . . , . It is evidence of a tremendous amount of work and co- operation on your part. I feel that you will be repaid by the knowledge which you have gained and by seeing the pleasure which it brings to your classmates. This yearbook is a record of some of the most enjoyable days of your life. In the days to come, you will turn its pages and recall happenings which otherwise would be forgotten. You will be reminded of teachers and classmates who otherwise would fade from memory. Yes, it is truly a store of treasured memories which will long be remembered. No other generation of youth in history has been confronted with problems more far-reaching than those of today. It is my hope that your experiences at Central will help you to meet these problems and that you will accept your responsibilities both to yourself and to your fellow man. As we look back over the four years, we see ourselves as high school students--students who have most of all enjoyed the friendships of each other. As Seniors, we have enjoyed the prestige and power of being Seniors. Early in the year we received our rings, ordered invitations, and received our pictures. Now we look toward grad- uation, and our diploma, the key to a Senior's futureg then after graduation, we will part to go our separate ways. A day begins with check period, and then ranges from physics, adv. math, even to the work on a research paper. It is not an easy life, but is a time of accomplishment. In the end, though, is the satisfaction of the senior ring and the knowledge that the halls will be empty without us. Lowe McManus - President Judy Howell - Treasurer Judy Stallings - Reporter Nancy Dunn - Secretary Ted Kirksey - Vice-President Sponsors Mrs. Mary Luna Mrs. Elizabeth Chapleau 36 Juniors The junior year is one of great responsibility, and even more, one of much activity. There are so many things to do, and so little time to do them--the Junior- Senior Banquet, the Talent Show, the Christmas Choir, and then classwork. This year's junior class has had capable, hard working leaders who have done a great job. Because of their leadership and the guidance of our two sponsors, we have found time to have fun and be the jol1y jun- iors we truly are. With the help of our sponsors, our class was organized and we were ready for the various activities of the school year. Our second year at Central found us more at ease. School life took on a new importance for us since more of us were participating in clubs and sports. As the year went by, we grew both physically and mentally. We began by learning our way around this very large building. We naturally forgot many of the things which we had been told and learned the rules and regulations the hard way. In time, however, we learned the daily routine and began to feel that we were a part of Central. Perhaps you do not know that the price you pay for each yearbook is only about two thirds of the actual cost of that book. Each year the Centraleer Staff faces the problem of raising enough funds to make up that difference between the cost and the lower selling price. Each year members of the staff contact most of the businesses in Bolivar. Most of the busi- nessmen take time to talk with these students and to buy an ad in the yearbook. We wish to thank the business people who con- stitute our financial sponsors for this year. With- out them, there would have been no 1967 Centraleer. To show them that we appreciate their backing our school and our yearbook, let's back their businesses! - I' r x x w P N -I1 x.
