Class H istory In August, 1949, 56 green Freshmen began their four years of high school at Central, Hayti, Missouri. Our greatest ambition as Freshmen was to have a winner among our classmates as, MlSS CENTORIAN. Gertrude Robinson, a member of our Freshman class, was the lucky winner. Two members of our class were staunch supporters of the Athletic Depart- ment as active players on the basketball team-Jessie Hartis and George Alford. Both played in the 1952-53 tournament that was held in the Armory at Cawthers- ville, Missouri. The class ellicers were as follows: Abednaga Cooper, Presi- gent; Monteel Wilson, Secretary; Walter Brooks, Treasurer; and Mr. Brodie, ponsor. As Sophomores, our class increased to 66 students, includin those stu- dents from Hermondale. Abednago Cooper, President; Monteel Wi son, Secre- tary; Elmer Webb, Treasurer; and Mr. Carter, Sponsor. During that year one of our classmates, Walter Brooks, was sent to represent the school at a track meet in Jefferson City, Missouri. The Junior Class had decreased to 46 members, but we yet had high hopes of raising money for our greatest undertaking-the Junior-Seniar Prom. We spon- sored the very best allairs to entertain the spectators. We also sold candy to raise funds. There was a Erst and second prize for selling candy which went tolLexie West and Monteel Wilson, respectively. The Junior-Senior Prom will be in our memories always, as the best ever given at Central. Miss Mildred Hawkins, 0 member of our class, represented Central at the National 4-H Club Meeting at Tuskegee Institute, Tuskegee, Alabama. Our class officers were: Arthur Truss, President; Mildred Hawkins, Secretary; James Tatum, Treasurer; and Mrs. M. Bush, Sponsor. During our Senior year the enrollment fell to 34 students. Our President was Arthur Truss; Ruth Clinton, Secretary; James Tatum, Treasurer; and Miss . M. Palmer, Sponsor. We joined the Hi-School Stocking Club of America to raise money to build our treasury. We also sponsored many allairs to leave a souvenir to our beloved school that we will always remember as the best, and so to dear old Central we leave our souvenir-a Flag Chest and our Motto, The Door To Success ls Labeled, 'Push'.
