ADMINISTRATION . . . The CEHISEAN theme, Looking Back Into the Past, reminds me that one's hindsight is usually better than his foresight. It is my hope that your glance backward will show maximum use of the edu- cational opportunities you experienced during your high school career. Looking ahead, your foresight can remind you that your education is never really finished and prompt you to make effective use of your future opportunities. This CEHISEAN permanently records the events and activities of your high school career. May it also record that these activities have made significant contributions to the broad citizenship goals of Central High School. For the graduating seniors the yearbook symbol- izes a form of farewell. With this in mind the faculty extends to each of them a warm goodbye and best wishes for the future. J. T. LACKNER Principal

As graduating seniors, you would probably like to know a little more about the school in which you have spent the last four years. In 1910 the present structure was erected. At Tenth and Minnesota Streets the original Central High School was built in 1833. At present Central his sixty-six class- rooms plus the study hall, gymnasium, auditorium, li- brary, offices, and cafeteria. It is supervised by a total of eighty-eight teachers and kept in working condition by twenty-five people on the custodial and cafeteria staff. In addition to our administration staff, which consists of Mr. Lackner, Mr. Sargent, and myself, we have three efficient office-workers and four couselors who are always willing to help students with their problems. But the most important part of Central is the student body and especially you, the graduating class of 1961. I I P. O. CARLSON X Assistant Principal fl 4 f The approaching conclusion of a school year gives one an opportunity to evaluate with perspective, the work of the year -- how one has grown, where one has fallen short of expectations. For most students, this view of one's self can reveal the corrections that must be made in order to take greater advantage of the unique opportunities provided by the public school and its faculty. For seniors, this understanding of one's strengths and limitations provided the framework for adult plans and ambitions. It is the sincere hope of the Central faculty that your school experience has given you a maximum vision of your promise and your responsibilities as a maturing citizen in a world community that will expect the very best of each of you.
