The job of collecting ads. delivering papers to homerooms, and heading sub- scription drives falls to this group under the leader- ship of Mr. john Ryan. It's a big job, and it was handled very efliciently this year. The Central High Times has brought many honors to Central, among them being the George I-I. Gallup Award and the Pacemaker. The co-editors this year, Mabel Lou Aherns and Kenneth Wolf- gram, under the guidance of Miss Olive Allen, are hoping to continue this good record. The Times, which comes out twice every month, took an extra job this year, that of publishing a student directory in order to earn enough money to finance a trip to Washington to attend the National journalism Con- vention. The highlight of the year for the editors is this trip which they attended last year and again this year. QITILL AND SCROLL lmlfllu Righl: Rirlinrd Greenberg. If you went to 517 you would Find the newest choral organization at Central, Girls' Glee Club. These girls, under the direction of Miss Arlys Denzel, gave polished performances of semi-classical and classical music. Betty Tiffany was their accompanist for this year. During the year the glee club has been re- quested to sing for various churches, clubs, assem- blies, and schools in the city. At the end of the year they prepared tryout solos for entrance into the choir. These girls are the future members of Cen- tral's choir. Mr. Campbell was the first to see a need for a class of beginning band members. The junior Band which he inaugurated has served this purpose for four years. In this class, the student can learn to play in a group under Mr. Campbell's supervision. These music-loving novices practice to improve technique and quality, and as soon as they have shown the right signs, they are elevated into the senior organization. Each member goes through fundamental scales and harmonies, and as a group, they form the reservoir for the greater Central High Band.
