The theme of this year's Cehisean strikes a highly optimistic note and rightly so, for without the unquenchable optimism of youth our civilization would long ago have com- pletely run down like a clock that needs winding. The world is so full of a number of things is more true now than ever before. The youth of today have the fruits of the labor bf former generations poured into their laps in great profusion. The possibilities for good which lie in this great store of practical knowledge should be most inspiring to them. There are all the material means and tools at hand to raise all peoples of the earth to a higher level of well being and prosperity than has ever before been known. BUT ONE ALL IMPORTANT THING IS STILL NEEDED TO MAKE THIS POSSIBLE. All the accumulated knowledge, the in- credible scientific achievements of the human race, can bring only greater destruction unless all is organized and directed by the highest ideals and wisdom known to man. Nothing less will do. This is the challenge to youth today! To put their optimism, their boundless enthusiasm and ambition into the job of applying the highest spiritual ideals known to man to the solving of the world's problems. Then, by and by, we can all become as happy as kings were supposed to be in the days of old. A. G. MEIER A. G. MEIER, Principal MR. INGEBRETSON Mr. Adolph Ingebretson, assistant principal, has learned to know both teachers and students in his first year at Central. He is always ready to cooperate with everyone who comes to his office.
