In order to prosecute the grim business of war successfully the national government had to take over powers which now must again be relinquished in order that democracy may again function freely. Young people who are in high 'school during lthese troubled years ar In America the young people have the great good fortune freely to observe and study this complicated process of readjustment and thereby to learn im- , portant lessons for the future, when they themselves will be in positions of authority. , I ' In view of these facts, how encouraging and reassuring it should be to this year's Cehisean improvement, In a of peace. The Student Council enables the student body to govern itself, The body is made up of a representative from each home room with the officers elected by the entire stu- dent body. The Council supervises many activities such as the selling of season tickets for the football games, Homecoming activities, assembly fund, the bookstore, the Community Chest collection, and many others. In addition to the usual sunlight dances, the group 'sponsored an evening dance in the gym this year. This dance, like all other Student Council projects, was very successful.
