We began leafing Through Them and immediaTely forgoT The business we had had in mind before finding Them. For hours we lived again The experi- ences of long pasT years. The picfures recalled persons and evenTs long relegafed To The subconscious. We seemed To hear again The Tones of voice and lisTen To The laughfer of Those friends of anofher day. We could almosT fancy ThaT we had buT To lifT our eyes from The pages of The boolc To see before us These friends in bodily presence. The long-neglecTed volume had become a valued souvenir. l-lerein, iT seems To me, lies The chief value of a school annual. The presenT becomes obscured and soon passes info The limbo of forgoTTen Things unless subiecT To picTorial recall. Years hence This Cehisean will become. for mosT of us, one of our mosT cherished possessions.
