Q0 CDXA 6 -Q Q 0653 be G5 0 ff ff t ff 'I ff 'S ffihiij, X twj I 1251 XXL, Hearing the familiar words of School days, school days, Dear old gol-den rule days, set us to thinking of the changes in education. Spelling bees and dunce caps have disappeared and with them has gone the curriculum centered around the three r's. Today our curriculum is expanded. Edu- cators realize that School Days should consist of more than just a classroom and a limited course of study. School life was thus varied with the new, practical studies and the introduc- tion of extra-curricular activities. Reading and writing and 'rithmetic, Taught to the tune of a hickory stick has given way to an enriched course of study. Now we still study the necessary background subjects, but We also enjoy courses an-d activities based upon our tal- ents. ln choosing our theme, the song School Days, we show the richness of our curricular activities and friendships of our leisure moments. We do not recite a history of all high schools, but rather we record the story of our School Days today. In spite of the vast changes made in the high schools, they are still the places for the making of lifelong friendships. Central High's largest senior class in making this yearbook, hopes that it will recall to you your modern School Days of 1939.
