This streamlet, though not the most striking thing in the Yale, maylzap added a might to the eheerl'ulness ot' small share ot' the plaee and eontrihuted, shall we say, its light and laughter to the gay imps who romped on its hanks. And anon, atter the sun had gone from the sky and the great god ol' darkness sounded his approach, the imps ot' the day, a hit more soher now, eame to look into the brook by night. The past frolies and water laughed and ehuekled as it told ot' eseapades and, gazing into the azure pools, the imps saw again the images of old friends and comrades at play, saw them as they had seen them in the sunlight ot' the past, saw them as they eould never behold them again in the day. And when the imps had all erepl to their nesting plaees, the brook sighed a satisfied sigh, for it had played its part. Light and laughter had it given in the day time ot' the present, and afterward it had preserved the image.
