Uhr 1935 Glaualwr QENIOR PLD S Pl TCRY Estelle llliams In September, 1951, ninety six untried Freshmen assembled at the City School Cookeville, Tennessee to begin their search for hlaher knoxled e e were in the hands of our teachers who were to make true Cavaliers of us They initiatinp us into the mysteries of alrebra and Ietin Our sponsors were Clark and I B Freeman Margaret Carlen vas elected president Nothing tlous occurred during our first year The next fall we pathere un our boots, left our preen reshman vavs successors and became solemn Sophomores This year we moved into our new as nutty lepan by onler momen to our hioh school building, our present home Qome of our Freshmen did not retzrn but there ere enough new ones to swell our number to 102 Our sponsors were Miss Cleo Tc lasson and M L Acuff our president, am Burton This year we took more interest in school activities hen we became Juniors, our number totaled only 81 Come of our members quit school and went to work or married This year Hershell Lee Dunn from Lebanon lgan, and Jack Painter from Lebanon, Kentucky joined our ranks Our leader throumu this busy year was Joe Adams, our sponsors, Eddie F atson and iss Agnes Freen wood Cur class was well represented in the school activities this year In March our Junior class presented a comedy, 'Short 36,' to raise funds for the Junior Senior banquet which occurred later in tee year This year the student body chose new colors to replace the old ones used the City School Scarlet and Blue were selected Near the end of the school year the Tunlors went on their annual picnic at Monterey Lake After burning much midnight oil, sleeping with a book in oar hands, and with the aid of kind and pitying teachers, we won our battle with third year geometry, Wnglish, history, and French and earned the rivht to be called eniors The followlnp fall, thirty seven members of the Junior class returned to fin ish their high school course Several of last year's Seniors returned There were also some new ones Ruby Dimple Breeding of Algood, B F Cooke of Chattanooga, Dimple Gill of Smithville, Tsry Jo Hardinp of lonterey, and Julia intherlnvton of Lebanon In all there are fifty three to receive their diplomas Our president this year was Eupene Davis e chose as our sponsors Miss Pauline Hudgens and W B Follis In March a mystery, 'Hobnoblin House was presented by thG Senior class The proceeds went into the annual fund fs is the custom, the Qeniors were guests of the Juniors at the Junior Qenior banquet The graduation exercises will end the high school career of fifty three young men and women, only thirty three of whom were among the original ninety six Thus we have spent four happy and important years of our life and are fully armed Cavaliers Now we shall scatter, some here, some there some will continue their educatlons by goinp to college, some will remain at home others will enter the business world As we cease being Cavaliers of Central High and become Cava liers of the world let us ever bear ir mind the value of integrity and labor taught us at Central PA U , US I S q . . , H M , , 1 x .
