Since 1936 he has been concerned with field research pertaining to migratory birds in Canada and Mexico. lt's a glorious life for us because it represents the combination of vocation and hobbyg we're at our happiest when we're out on lakes and marshes miles from nowhere. BILL BELLAMY Central-1940 A person who will go down in Cardinal history as one of our most industrious and versatile leaders is Bill Bellamy. President, Student Council ftwo semestersj . Editor of Sooner Spirit. Mem- ber of Red Shirts, Masquers, jeffs. First string football team ftwo yearsj. Elected on All-city, Mid-State, and All-State football teams. Bill enters Tulane University at New Orleans to study joumalism. BONNA BELLE MELTON Central-1940 Bonna Belle Melton will probably go far in the world as a business woman. At Central she has taken a most com lete commercial course, making all A's and B's in these subjects. it is not only in this type of work that Bonna Belle excellsg she has done outstand- ing work in music, and is a member of the National Honor Society. BOB ALEXANDER Central--1940 One of the most versatile leaders of the Class of 1940 is Bob Alexander. Member of the golf team. President of Student Council. President of Red Shirts. Member of Ieffs, Masquers, N. F. L. Lead in the Senior play. Commencement speaker. At present, Bob plans to attend the University of Oklahoma to major in law. LARRY BOGGS Central-1940 During Larry's years at Central, he has been very active in extra- curricular activities, chiefly in the field of dramatics. His pleasing voice and acting ability give him the lead in the musical comedy. The Gingham Girl. e had an important art in the senior play and is a member of The Masguers. Other honors: President of Student Council, President of ed Shirts, Business manager of the Annual, President of the Senior Class, Commencement speaker. BETTY CLIFFORD C entral-1 940 Betty Clifford is a very talented art student and is planning to continue her study in that field at O. U. after her graduation rom Central. She is especially good in cartoon work, having won first in the cartoon contest sponsored by the League of Women Voters on the subject of the merit system. She has also designed several covers for our programs as well as some of the division pages for the annual. Betty is a member of the Red Skirts. BENNETT BASORE Central-1940 A most outstanding student in the field of science is Bennett Basore. He has studied geology, chemistry, and physics, making all A's and B's in these subjects. His scholastic record is not limited to scientific subjects, since Bennett is also a member of the National Honor Socie as well as the Chemistry Club. He will enroll at O. U. next rfiill to start the many years of training which will make him a full-fledged M. D. ESTELLE SMITH Central-1940 Estelle seems to have that accurate and analytical type of mind that makes the study of science both a pleasure and a profit. She has taken all the science that is offered at Central and has made all A's and B's in these subjects. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and the Chemistry Club. Estelle expects to attend either O. U. or A. 61 M. after graduation, where she will major in chemistry and dictetics. PLATO ANDROS Ctnffdl--1940 Probably the most versatile athlete in Central is Plato Andros. He has played many outstanding games as a most able Cardinal tackle and served as captain of the football team He was placed on the All-city and Mid-State football teams. Plato has set state records in both the discus and shot-put. He is an active member of the Student Council and Red Shirts, and does his share in all school activities.
