FOREWORD Central this year celebrates her twentieth anniversary as the school on the hillf' lt is significant to realize that twenty years have passed since our present school was thronged for the first time by a mass of eager and curious students, wandering aimlessly through the spacious halls, and in their four years here entering upon the trail which thousands were to follow in the years to come. We can well be proud of our institution, for numerous modern ideas have been installed and honors won in all fields of endeavor, creating in our students a warm feeling of pride and fellowship. This building which we have attended for the past four years was formally dedicated in February, nineteen seventeen, and in that year Central proved victorious by winning all honors in football, baseball, and basketball. We also won three places out of four in the Competitive Drill, a feat never before ac- complished. We captured the football championship again in nineteen-twenty. And then in twenty-two came the rise of the club movement, from which was created the Officers Club, Architectural Club, and many other organizations for lovers of art, music, and science, which lent the diverting social aspect found in modern schools today. Since then there has been established a Central chapter of the National Honor Society, and we have been granted annually scholarships to the leading universities in the country. These improvements are all combined to create the Central we take pride in today. In accordance with the fact that this year is Central's twentieth anniver- sary of the new building, we have chosen as the theme of the 1936 BRI-:CKY the activities around school. Our aid in achieving this object has been the Art Department, the members of which have worked skillfully and patiently through the year to portray scenes of school life familiar to us all-scenes that in the years to come will be pushed gently into oblivion by the new pleas- ures and problems of the life into which we are about to be graduated. In ad- dition, a vote of appreciation is due to our efficient faculty advisers who have worried and labored with us through the year. And so if, on a still distant day, someone of you chances upon this then dusty volume, and in turning through its pages once more seems to recall the excitement, enthusiasm, and buoyancy of youth, and to derive some pleasant memories from the nearly forgotten faces, then the efforts of the staff shall not have been in vain. KATHLEEN GALLACHER, Editor-in-Chief. l4l
