Class History Through the mist of early morning, in the month of September, 1949, a wagon train began its 12 year journey toward Graduation City. The purpose of this journey was to achieve knowledge. After completing eight years of our journey we stopped at a village in the plains of the Middle West called Newland. Here we accepted eleven new friends. Two thirds of our journey was soon completed and we entered a higher and more rugged struggle. Upon reaching Freshman City we looked about us to find that many of those who had started on the journey had dropped out to take some other trail in life. Those who did remain were included in the many activities and changes surrounding them. During the three month drive between Freshman and Sophomore City we realized that our wagon of supplies and money were low. The women folk baked cakes, pies, and cookies to sell to the families of the city. The ladies worked hard and made a profit of $57.74. The men folk, with the help of the women, decided to give a good ole country sock dance. Refreshments were served and everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly. A profit of $40.59 was made. In Sophomore City we observed the old tradition of ordering our class rings and giving the Senior wagon a party. Refreshments and dancing were enjoyed by all. Next stop was Junior City. In Junior City our main objectives were the Junior-Senior Banquet and Dance and the receiving of our rings. Thirty-seven of the stouter and more courageous ones reached Senior City and proceeded on toward our goal, Graduation City. While in Senior City our objectives were the Senior Play, getting our annual out and preparing for graduation. We had determined to see a successful end to our journey and with quickened interest we set our faces toward our destination. The last part of our journey was easier. After crossing the highest mountains into Graduation City we looked far out upon the ocean realizing our journey had been completed and a newer and brighter future lay ahead.
