Our Freshman Year 1949, we were very green especially about changing classes and so many teachers. Finally we learned all the ropes and acted as if we owned the school Our teacher. Mr Grimes, did his best but it was a lost cause The things we enjoyed most were the F F A and F H A Banquets and the holidays Sophomore Year 1950 Miss Ann Cox was our home room teacher One of the highlights that year was the Werner Roast we gave the Seniors at Texaco Beach Of course, we had other interests such as sports, parties, and a must LESSONS Our Junior Year 1951 Then the fireworks began We really had to go to work along with our teacher, Mr Frank Evans We put on a play Raggedy Nan at which we made money for the Junior-Senior Banquet. We also carried on a Magazine Campaign This year the F F A and F H A combined their banquets for the Mothers and Fathers and had a fish fry at Texaco Beach We enjoyed that a lot more naturally because we did not have to listen to any long-winded speakers Then the long awaited Jumor-Semor Banquet We worked our fingers to the bone decorating the gym for the dance and the lunchroom for the banquet The theme carried out was a garden Everyone seemed to enjoy it and that made us feel wonderful Senior Year 1952 Here we start to say our Good Byes to dear ole Central High School These days have been the happiest of our life we know. Mr C. 0 McMullan is our home room teacher. So far we still haven't realized it has been twelve years but th? Senior Play. Jumor-Semor Banquet and Commencement will bring the dream to a reality As we take those last steps out of the Door of Life to Another Door we will be leaving many dear memories behind but we will make many more in the future somewhere else. Now the day is at hand and we want you all to share it with us. Signed and sealed this tenth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and fifty-two. Lawyer J. C. Twinklestar Testator 1 PEEP INTO THE FUTURE The blustering cold and heaping snow of Chicago had made everyone just a little late for my birthday party, but at last everyone had arrived, oh so cold but cheerful. And now I stood before the huge towering pink and white birthday cake to blow out the forty-two little candles, which merrily blinked at me. reminding me that all of twenty-five years had lapsed since I had had a birthday cake just like this except of course for the number of candles. I had been a senior in school then, at Central High in Elizabeth City. North Carolina As I leaned forward to tell my guests my birthday wish and to blow out the candles. I realized that each of those candles might well stand for each of the seniors in my class of that year of 52. So I told everyone what I had been thinking and they responded eagerly demanding that before telling my birthday wish I must disclose the lives and fortunes of each of my senior classmates So I began: CURTIS DILLON ALBERTSON and MARVIN KENT TRUEBLOOD, who each had possessed good looks, had promptly left for Hollywood, where they are now partners, producing, directing, and starring in the sensational Kent Or Curt productions! I read in Life Magazine the other day. that MARTHA BRANCH has just returned to the states from Istanbul, where her husband. Bobby, was stationed during the Turkish Revolt, as a newspaper correspondent for the New York Tribune. WILLIAM JUDSON BRANCH. JR., is the Professor of French at the University of North Carolina, at the time I noticed while reading the society column m the Boston Star last week that the flirtatious FRANCES CAROLYN NORMAN had married a multi-millionaire from Boston. JULIAN LEE OWNLEY. and is planning a trip abroad with her husband in order to study domestic relations While in New York last spring my husband and I dropped in on CALEB HARRIS and FRANKLIN BALLANCE who are co-owners of a big exclusive night club and society cafe on Fifth Avenue where they were featuring BARBARA JEAN HARRELL. The Queen of Song.’' as their guest star! Around the corner from them. The Horn Tobacco Shop. owned by SMITH HORN. JR., is the favorite hangout of all the New York detectives, since he is quite a Snerlock Holmes himself Tis said that many a case has been cracked there! There was an article in the Chicago Sun two weeks ago about SYLVIA PIERCE who acquired outstanding athletic recognition as a basketball player in high school and college She is now coach of the famous Ohio State Wavelets. who were the state championship winners last year Congratulations’ Last night I watched HARRY FINLEY BRIGHT, known to most TV fans as Bright Harry. He is a brilliant comedian who stars for Bright White Soap every Saturday night on television . I received a letter from BARBARA ANN CARTWRIGHT Castellow who lives in Haiti with her husband. Fred, not long ago She was one of my girl friends and she told me about several senior class members that I had lost track of. One was NANCY PRITCHARD who now rurs a quaint little Tea Shoppe in Niagara Falls, and caters to Honeymooners She said last week EDWARD MURPHY celebrated his tenth year as a pilot for Capitol Airlines, He flew to Winston-Salem to visit his wife. BETTYE LOU WOOD and their three charming little boys A big celebration followed ROBERT CARTER. I understand, has become famous for several lovely water-color paintings that he has painted, and DELBERT CREEF who used to work at a filling station went to Texas and became rich when he struck oil He and Carolyn, together, own several big ranches on which they raise beef cattle Barbara Ann also said, that ANNIE IVES HORTON is still living in Elizabeth City with Jack and their five girls—one's in college and about to graduate NEIL HUDSON is driving a circus truck for Ringling Bros . Barnum and Bailey and is on his way to Florida for the winter JACK BROTHERS and ROY GODFREY are top-rate farmers who made a fortune in cabbage and potatoes and are trying something new—celery and cauliflower' MARY ELIZABETH RALPH married her old boy friend from Elizabeth City and her pal SYLVIA SMITHSON is now on the West Coast with her husband raising seedless oranges' WILLIAM CARTER and VINCENT GODFREY are both ministers in Asheville and Wilmington, respectively. SARA LEE HENDRICKS has her own record shop in Elizabeth City and is doing a fine business spinning platters. RUDOLPH HOFFMAN had been operating a big meat packing and processing plant in Smithfield. Virginia, but he’s planning to build a plant of his own now. AUDREY WILSON, married and moved to Hickory. N C . and although she never talked much in school. I hear that she is quite talkative with her neighbors!! L E WINSLOW, married his school-girl sweetheart. Edith, and is happy and content. I think NORMA DEAN SPENCE, after several years of touring the country and enjoying life, at last settled down with her blonde, handsome sweetheart in Pensacola. Florida It’s been rumored that they're raising aligators!! JACKIE WILLIAMS is now working m a Ford Assembly Plant in Detroit and the last time I heard from BUCK WILLIAMS, he was in Alaska trapping minks, for a big fur concern Annis in New York PEGGY BROTHERS who came to our school our senior year is now a retired captain in the Women's Air Force While my husband and I were on a rest trip in Florida about six months ago I suddenly ran into one of my old friends. MARGIE WHITE who also was vacationing in Miami Her husband is the present senator from North Carolina JEAN SPELLER is doing psychiatric work in Connecticut and has HATTIE LOU THOMPSON as an assistant in her downtown office PUNCHY STALLINGS is a retired professor from Harvard University while WILBUR TURNER is spending quite a lot of time on his sugar cane plantation in Cuba. LESTER LAMB is planning to revisit his old school. Notre Dame where he was an All-American half-back. Last. BILLY SHARBER is head of the Commercial Department at ECC in North Carolina There, everyone is accounted for! I cried Now your wish. sang my guests Thinking happily over the past years. I said aloud; Here's my wish—though small it shall be May all my senior classmates live as happily as me Then I blew the 42 little candles out1 Harry Blevins Gerald Bray Margaret Ann Brite Billy Brothers Carolyn Carter Lessie Mae Cartwright Plyllis Davis Carolyn Etheridge Charles Fletcher Gloria Gregory Johnnie Gregory Martha Gregory Jerry Hardesty Edith Hudson James Jennings Allen Jones Carolyn Jones James Jones Lila Midgett Albert Ownley Aubrey Ownley James Ownley Jimmy Owens Miriam Pritchard Alice Mae Rhodes Lois Jean Sawyer Charles Sharber Joyce Tarkenton Lina Williams siiimi inm it Doloris Alexander Billy Baum Jean Belangia Harold Boothe Richard Branch Anne Bright Flora Bundy Nolan Bundy Shirley Bundy Joyce Fay Cartwright Adele Forbes Carolyn Forehand Mary Godfrey Jimmy Harrell Mary Lou Hatfield Aldean Hudson Phyllis Johnson Miriam Meads Arden Palmer Marion Palmer Harold Riddick Ray Rogerson Jimmy Ray Sanders Shirley Ann Sawyer Margaret Faye Sharber Theron Sharber Chelsea Smith Cecil Williams David Williams Virgil Winslow Nora Alexander Valna Alexander Connie Brothers Jackie Brothers Frances Cartwright Thojnas Chappell Jackie Cooper Jack Curlings Franklin Davis Leon Eason Billy Gregory Billy Hampton Charlie Hobbs Ella Hoffman Wilson Jennings Mary Ann Jones Betty Lamb John Madre Edith Meads Jackson Morris Norma Muse Wesley Own ley Sammy Own ley Curtis Pierce Ruth Pritchard Eugene Sample Charles Ray Sawyer Jean Kay Sawyer Theodore Sawyer Max Singletary Donald Stallings Bobby Spence Barbara Spruill 'Billy Temple Leslie Turner John Whitehouse Doris Faye Whitehurst Betty Williamson Gloria Williams Billy Wilson Alice Woolard MRS.
