The members of 212 Executive Council were given the iob ot managing the honor study hall. Twenty-one council members were chosen, based on their character, and their ability to manage a study hall. The council ran six study halls a day plus noon hour. ln each study hall the council took roll, checked passes, and kept order. Their most ditticult task was regulating member- ship. The selection was based on the student's ability to maintain good study habits. The group met every other Thursday noon headed by President Greta Hansen, Vice- President William Melby, and Secretary Ellen Panke. Their advisor was Miss Wiley. For approximately 1467 years people have been fascinated by the complex game ot chess. This year was no exception. Meeting every third Monday, Central's Chess Club elected President Dave Klehm, Vice-Presi- dent Doug Frisbie, and Secretary-Treasurer Jim Weist. Chess has been described as both an art and a science. Actually it is a contest in which the brains and skill ot one person are pitted against that ot another. Members ot Chess Club had a purpose in meeting together. It was to checkmate the opponent's king. Chess Club, buck row: D. Skipton, D. Frisbie, B. Black, J. Weist, G. Underheim. Third row: J. Sleik, S. Larson, D. Tauscher, S. Bina. Second row: M. Student Government for Central The Student Council consisted ot an elected mem- ber or an alternate from each homeroom. Usually meetings were held twice a month. The Student Coun- cil chose and arranged assemblies tor the year and tried to promote exchange assemblies with other schools. Fall Festival and Stunt Night were two at the social events sponsored by the group. At the end ot the year, the Council holds the elections in which the sophomores and the iuniors elect o new president to represent them the next year. Several iunior girls happily work out a routine to get the selling spirit into Central students. Their skit was presented at the annual magazine assembly. The T966-1967 Student Council President was Paul Christianson. Paul's goal as president was to promote more school spirit and participation by the students. He accomplished this by creating the Pep Committee which sold pep tags, pompons and planned pep assem- blies. The other officers were Vice-President Todd Ondell, Secretary Sandy Dahl, Treasurer Jim Leide, Junior Representative Sandy Toepel, and Parliamen- tarian Mike Facius. Sophomore Kathy Swartz relinquishes the sum of tive cents in order to show her spirit with a pep tag. Mary Rash, pep committee chairman, gladly accepts the nickel. W lfggttigfk - 1
