Class History Goodness! How time has passed! Why it seems only yesterday that we were grad- uated from the eighth grade. When we entered C.H.S. the class was so large that it was necessary to divide us in- to A, B, and C sections, under the supervision of Mrs. Bryant, Miss Bizzell and Mr. Mc- Laughlin. By this time we were thinking of the popularity contest; in 9-A section the candidate elected was Alice Boyd, and in the 9-B section, Dorothy Nichols. Neither section won, but we gave a nice contribution to the popularity contest. The following year 89 anxious boys and girls came back to school as Sophomores. Our home room teachers, Miss Mack, Miss Bizzell and Mrs. Bryant were as pleased to greet us as Sophomores. We finally organized our class: We chose Walter Faribault as our President. The Vice-President that year was David Whitted. Doris Parker became our Secretary and Dorothy Nichols was elected her assistant. The Treasurer was Johnny Jeffries. The class reporters were Rosetta English and James Kirkland. Then came our Junior year; we were terribly excited because of the Junior Senior Prom. With the help of Miss Chavious and Mrs. Simpson, we organized. Officers were: President, Carolyn Burroughs; Vice President, Walter Fairbault; Secretary, Rosetta English; Assistant Secretary, Dorothy Nichols; Treasurer, Margaret Hughes; Assistant Treasurer, Johnny Jeffries; Parliamentarian James Kirkland. Our Prom was grand, decorated as an Evening in Paris scene. We are quite sure the Seniors of 56 enjoyed themselves. Now! Now! The happiest and most exciting school term comes, we are Honorable Seniors . Our Senior Advisors are Miss Robinson and Miss Dix. We came back to school on September 5, 1956, a group of happy boys and girls, excited over the many senior activities. Officers elected were: President, Carolyn Burroughs; Vice President, Walter Faribault; Secretary, Rosetta English; Assistant Secretary, Patricia Wells; Treasurer, David Whitted; Business Manager, David Whitted; Parliamentarian, Robert McAdoo; Sergeant-at-Arms, Frank White; Reporters, Cynthia Alston and Bettye Vanhooke. The outstanding ventures of our Senior year were the publishing of the Annual, the presentation of our Senior Class play, and the preparation for graduation. We will forever be grateful for the privilege of attending this school and for the guidance and encouragement of our parents, Principal and teachers. When we receive our diplomas, the history of our class as a group ends, and each member will write his own history by his future deeds. Rosetta English, Class Historian 30
