honor awards individuals receive honors tuesday, October 26, marked the date of the seventeenth annual honor awards assembly, one hundred and fifty juniors and seniors received recognition for academic excellence and first or second honor awards, special guests included parents of recognized students, mr. simon roberts of scott county community college, and the chs orchestra, a similar assembly was held in the spring honoring sophomores also. Learning the history of the English language was a must for underclassmen. language arts courses for everyone both the speech department and the american literature grouping underwent structural changes during the past year. group communications was offered for those students interested in developing their speaking talents in group situations. the juniors, for the first time, were able to choose the american literature courses which they desired to take. course selection included the american novel, and drama in american life. J Demonstrating the usefulness of the card catalog is Mrs. Grace Holmes. Underclassmen study the evolution of the English language. 19
