ARROW l9 l THE SHIP OF MEMORIES O DAY IS more rare than the one m June when our shlp IS anchored safe l at last rn the harbor The salls are tattered and the frame has 1 yr grayed from the lashing of waves Stlll we love that falthful vessel for lt carrred us three seasons wlth the wmd blowlng foul and falr E my toward the Port of Graduatlon We look 1nto the serene depths of a sapphlre sea and wonder lf those storms we weathered weren t merely fancy A sense of strangeness and unwanted responslblllty gr1ps us we know we must travel the gleammg rlbbon of a hlghway yonder For consol atlon and strength we turn to our cargo of memorles once more ter too Some of the worst wlndy gusts were nlghtmares of geometry and semor taunts that the boys ln our class were genume pygmles We were perhaps l1ttle but we proved we were mlghty ln capturlng the pep Jug dur mg football season The boys always felt grateful to Gall Welshaar for that How we all clapped when Dawn Mandery was crowned queen at the Pageant of Centurlesl But wouldn t lt have been hard to choose from the bevy of nommees? The one and only nlght football game gave us a blg thrlll Sopho mores were well represented we re proud to say m the All State Chorus that year The Gym Circus set the sophomore glrls all a flutter lt s too bad there wasnt an All School Play so they could have had real stage frlght Remember we won the consolatlon honors at the state tournament ln basket ball and that flrst glorlous F leld Day' We Sophomores ate dust and en Joyed 1t whlle we watched the fllvver race and tug o war In the sprmg we Junlors met few mlshaps Wasnt 1t sweet of the ra1n to walt txll after the parade on Pageant Day? Falry tales and nursery rhymes made such gorgeous floats especlally the queen s wlth Ruth Nellls on the throne Then to cap the cllmax we showed SOUIX Palls the door to defeatll Remember we nearly froze at Watertown when a speclal tra1n took us down ftwo hundred students! to boost our team We lost but as good sports we couldnt be beat Dldn tjune Plerce Whoopee wmsomely IU our successful jumor play Clarence? Ole Olson was the outstandlng athlete of the Jumors and that beautlfully decorated gym and the refreshment rooms the mght of the Prom' We Junxors worked desperately hard Then the last lap of the Journey behold Seniors' On Pageant Day the storm god lost h1s temper entlrely Between tears VJ well at least d1smay and the ram we almost drowned The paradehad to be glven up and Marian Nelson was such a lovely queen too' We ll never forget thateffectlve coron atlon mldst Shakesperlan settlng D1d the Glee Clubs ever smg more beautl fully than at the Chrlstmas concert? Thenthe Jlnx that captured our basket ball team by makmg us w1n and lose so often by one pomt' Let s g1V6 the Senlor Glrls Club credlt for or1g1nal1ty ln the Aprll Fool Banquet g1ven for the basketball boys Then the grand concluslon of our sea farlng l1fe the song contest, baccalaureate and commencement ...+.....l..... . . . . ,o T 1 T ' W M - - g - ..jf'3g . . . ARROW l9 l l SENIOR GIRLS CLUB The Senlor Glrls Club under the capable leadershlp of Mlss Hammond has been one of the most actlve clubs of the year The oiflcers were FIRST SEMESTER SECOND SEMESTER Sage Madden Presldent Lorene Soper Lorene Soper VICE Presldent Elleen Paulson Ellzabeth Douglas Treasurer Joyce Sarver Many and Varled projects were sponsord by the club Probably the most outstandlng of these was the party on Pageant Day The feature of the party was a grand march led by the queen and her attendents with the mar shalls The club sold candy bars and esklmo ples at several football and bas ketball games Near the end of the flrst semestera Kld Party was given at whxch stunts and dancmg furnlshed entertamment for the evemng On the mornmg of January 9 a pep assembly was glven to advertlse the Box Supper whlch took place that evemng after the Watertown game The basketball banquet glven on March 21 was a very successful affalr The Aprll Fool note whlch predommated 1n the decoratlon scheme and enter talnment caused great fun and excltement At the1r annual tea ln May the senlor g1rls entertamed the Jumor g1rls As a closlng project of an ac t1ve and successful year the semor class breakfast was sponsored by th1s club W Jean Stewart ......l.. ., ..........,....
