Girls' 4-H Club In '48 the Switz City Lassies felt as though they accomplished more than their ribbons might indicate. Our club consisted of thirty-six members, nine of which were new members. Several of our older members have been loyally serving their club for a period of seven or eight years. Early in the spring, our club chose Nancy Ann Aldridge for its presi- dent, Mary Ruth McDaniels as vice president, Lena. Tolen, secretary, Helen Stacey, treasurer, Betty Jo- Gastineau and Evelyn Brock as recrea- tion leaders, Mary Le-e Bingham as health leader, and Martha Thacker and Carolyn Feutz as our pianists. Our Junior Leaders this year were Ruby Cain, Mary Ruth McDaniels, Helen Stacey and Gloria Hammer. It is considered quite an honor to be chose Junior Leader because so much is required' to qualify. She must be an outstanding citizen, good scholar and an able leader of inexperienced members. Two sweepstake awards were claimied by the Switz City Lassies. The awards were given to Mary Ruth McDaniels in baking and Ruby Cain in clothing and dress review. I Some of the girls work was entered in the State Fair. In the can- ning division Lena Tolen, Carolyn Feutz and Ruby Cain were chosen. In baking Mary Ruth McDaniels and Nancy Ann Aldridge were selected. Our new adult leader is Miss Horn from Clay City who is a graduate of Indiana State Teachers College.
