Future Farmers oi America The Future Farmers of America, or F.F.A. as it is more commonly known, is a national organization of farm boys studying Vocational Agri- culture. The national organization is made up of state organizations including every state but one in the United States, and Hawaii and Puerto Rico. Each state F.F.A. is divided into several districts and these dis- tricts are in turn divided into local chapters, situated in most of the -schools in the districts. The Switz City F.F.A. Chapter, which was organized in the spring of 1945, now has ten Chapter Farmers, the second highest degree. At present there are two Greenhands, the rank of which all F.F.A. mem- bers start. Last year one boy, Vance York, from our chapter was awarded the Hoosier or State Farmer Degree, the third highest degree of the or- ganization, and again this year we have one boy trying for this degree, which is awarded only for outstanding records kept in record books and outstanding records of participation in school and community as well as F.F.A affairs. In the Spring of 1948, we elected new officers. They are as follows: President ...................................,............................................................... Fred Rowe Vice President ........, ......... D avi-d Roudebush Secretary .................. ........ F rank Hardesty Treasurer ........... ...................... B ill White ' Reporter ......... ............... J unior Blanton Sentinel ....................................................................................... Charles Hamner There has been three District meetings this year, at Worthington, Linton, and Bloomfield. Our chapter has been represented at two of these meetings. The next meeting, the Spring Elimination Contests, is to be held at Switz City, with our chapter as hosts. We think that our chapter and its members are doing quite well, for during the past few years, all of the projects have proved very pro- -fitable, showing several thousand dollars in net profits. i mmm I
