Switz City Basketball Schedule 1948-1949 November 5 Switz City-43 Clay City-40 The Switzers traveled to Clay City to collect their first victory. High scoring honors went to Smith and Skomp who tied for 9 points -each. For Clay City it was Gerber making 15 points. November 12 Worthington--53 Switz City-40 The Switzers journeyed to Worthington, fought a very hard game, but were defeated. Brannon, Worthington's star, collected 25 points. Smith who played forward for Switz collected 12 points. November 19 Switz City-31 Lyons--29 The Switzers tangle-d with Lyons their first home game and Won. Charlie Justus who played guard collected 10 points for scoring honors. Rollison who played guard, made 10 points for Lyons. - December 3 Midland-34 Switz City-35 On our floor we bested our opponents by 1 point in a nip-and-tuck battle. Smith dropped 16 points in the bucket. Lammey of Midland scor- ed 12 points. December 10 Switz City--35 Spencer--43 The Cops who were captained by Woolard last year, beat us by an 8 point margin in a very close and exciting game. Gastineau and Smith tied for 12 points each. Spencer scoring honors went to Dowell, who made 14 points. December 11 Solsberry--36 Switz City-29 The Switzers dropped a very close and exciting game to the Hor- nets. Cazee made 18 points for the Hornets, and for Switz it was Smith making 9 points. fContinuedJ

Switz City Basketball Schedule 1948-1949 December 15 Switz City-37 Graysville-38 The Switzers played a hard game but lost by 1 point. Bill Lewis, who played forward, scored 14 points. Pethech made 12 points for the win- ning team. December 17 Scotland-35 Switz City-29 Our last game for year 1948 was in the Scotties favor. Staker, who played guard scored for 9 points. Cochrane for the visitors scored 12 points. December 24 January 2 VACATION WEEK-Santa Claus sent us a new ball player, Ray- mond. King. January 4 Switz City-36 Linton-44 Our first game for 1949 was played on Linton floor. We should have won, b-ut failure to hit the bucket from the foul line lost the game for us. Gastineau racked up 10 points for our side. Reed made 14 points for the Miners. January 7 Lyons-39 Switz City-41 Again we tangled with our close neighbors Lyons but walked away with a victory by a 2 point margin. Gastineau banked 12 points for Switz. Ed Fulk scored 16 points for the losers. January 11 Switz City-33 Worthington-42 The Ramblers, who were very lucky in shooting, bested us by an 8 point margin. Donald Ray Cruse, who played guard was high point man for Switz with 9 points. Warren, who played guard for Worthington, col- lected 15 points for the winners. January 14 Bloomfield-44 Switz City-36 The Cardinals will have to admit it was not a practice session. The Switzers never gave up till the gun was fired ending the fourth quarter. Gastineau scored 11 points for the Switzers and Lewis 23 points for the Cardinals. fContinuedJ
