' Chemistry This year the school officials decided that a new science course :should be offered. As a result chemistry was included on the list of elec- tive courses open to students in our school. . N The enrollment in our first chemistry class was nine-five seniors .and four juniors. The time in class was spent equally in study and ex- periments. Rumors have it that the rooms above us were in a constantly nervous state. They were afraid that some well-meaning chemistry stu- dent would faccidentlyj discover the formula for an atom. The equipment in the science laboratory consists of one table in which supplies were kept and another in which aprons and books were placed-also purchased was a walnut-finished cabinet in which chemi- cals were kept. One of the tables has a sink with hot and cold running water, four -electric boxes and four gas outlets. At the close of the year nine students still remained-however, 'there were many burnt fingers, broken test tubes, acid eaten books and a nervous teacher. Due to some miracle every one has survived. Cafeteria News As all of you know, our Cafeteria was started last year. Many new things have been added. These new things are an improvement and also .an aid to the cooks to prepare more efficiently and quickly our delectable hot lunches. Hot lunches make us feel more like stu-dying. Well, don't they ? A new 23 case milk cooler, a G. E. deepfreeze, a potato peeler, new platesyforks, spoons, fruit juice glasses, and various cooking utensils have been purchased since last year. The expenditure in dollars for this equipment amounted to 51600. ' An average of 392 lunches a day was served the first semester, this made 29,449 meals served in 75 days.
