A. gymnasium sinee the year 1909, and the physieal training eourse has proverl very beneficial to many ol' the girls. It has proved a help to the rounil-shoulrlerefl girl as well as to the lazy girl. The lessons in the gym. work eonsist of Inrlian elubs, flumb hells. military marc-hing. free-hancl Swedish. bar bells. basket- ball. c-enter-ball and fancy flanc-ing: anrl many of the girls ean jump to a height of 4 feet without mueh effort. and others can elimb the rope with mueh aetivity. This year about 165 girls were enrollerl in the gym. elasses. The gym. is open to the T. H. S. girls every afternoon with the exeeption of Tuesday. when the normal girls and tear-hers have the use of the floor. The gym. is a plan-e of mueh amusement to the speetators as well as to the girls. and sueh eommanrls as arms upward. then downward streteh on two counts: now do the same thing with your feet. eause the fun. ancl although sur-h eommands are not always strictly obeyerl. they eause a titter of laughter to be heard from the balcony as well as from all taking part in the free-hand Swedish. 1713

The only time the admirers of the fair sex were admitted to the gym. this year. without question. was on March ith.
