OHN IOSEPH BARRY We, the class of 1954, are present thls mornlng for our last assemblv Four wars of happy toll are behlnd us, and now the glory of accomphshment IS almost ours When we were meek and humble freshmen lt IS rather hard to behewe we ex er were we l1ttle reahzed that these four years would pass bv so sw1ftly It wasnt long after we entered Central before we had adyusted ourselx es to our new emlronment as amb1t1ous and determlned students, and were enthu srastlcally taklng our part 1n all the school s HCIIVIIICS Wlth the passmg years we have assumed more and more responsrblllty, and thxs, our senror, year we have demonstrated to the entlre student body our capacxty for leadershrp From the very begmnlng of our berng at Central, we have cherlshed our frlendshrps for one another, frlendshlps that have unxted us closely together as a class, and have reached out to lnclude every member of the school We reahze now, more than we ever could have before, how deeply we shall treas ure these frlendshlps as the years go by Our class has establlshed many precedents these past years, and we have strlven to perpetuate the trad1t1ons whlch our school upholds We are proud of the democratlc Splflt whlch characterlzes Central Hlgh, and we know that we have srncerely endeavored to make thxs democratlc Splflt an endurlng ln fluence We know that 1n every respect our four years together have brought out an urgent deslre to be friendly cooperat1ve, and thoughtful of others Now, as we come to the partlng of the ways, the t1me when many of our assoclatlons of these four happy years must end, we take wxth us an accumula tlon of experxences and frrendshlps whlch we wlll always hold most dear We look to the future wlth ant1c1pat1on and courage but we regret very deeply that our h1gh school days are over We are extremely grateful to the faculty tor xnnumerable mstances of help and encouragement whlch they have glven us and to our guldance counselors for therr sympathetrc understanding To the class of 1955 we turn over the responslblllty of carrymg on where we lease off May you be nmbued wnth the same amount of 1nsp1rat1on and zeal whlch we by good fortune have possessed We urge that you make thf most of the year before you, for all too soon rt wlll be oxer Wav happrness and success embrace all your efforts, and may God bless you all Good by CLASS PRESIDENT S MESSA GE F X X , I V , Q., I , - . . , ,M , , ' , ' if Ja- ' ' . .
